PolyTrak & MCPI Cat Rooms

Beginning April 22, 2006, PolyTrak has installed PHPMyChat. This is a strictly server-side chat program that requires no download or installation of programs or add-ons for individual users. All functions are handled by PolyTrak and all that is required by the user is their own browser. For example Microsoft Internet Explorer, FireFox, Safari and others.

At present we have public rooms available: These two rooms are available anytime day or night for general discussions of the Maine Coon Polydactyl cat and related subjects. Participation does require registration with basic information (Note: You do not have to give your last name, however something is required in the last name box. You may just use and "x" or asterisk if you prefer not to use your last name You will need a login name. We suggest using your Yahoo ID as your login name and password for your privacy. Also your email address is required for verification, but will not be released or be visible to anyone unless you check the box to make it public.

These chat rooms have a choice of colour for your messages and emoticons (smiley faces) for use, along with several other features for the room. At the login page is a help tutor that you may read and become familiar with some of the features if you desire. These chat rooms are similar to Yahoo Chat, MSN or ICQ...but most closely resembles MIRC (for those of you that may have used this program in the past). We think you will find it rather easy to catch on to the basics of using the program.

PolyTrak hopes in the future to schedule workshop type chats with experts in a particular area followed by Q & A session at the conclusion. Any such seminars will be announced as far in advance as possible on our main Welcome Page and as many other outlets as possible. We also plan to provide transcripts in text or pdf format following these discussions.

The rooms are public rooms and all can see any conversations up to 96 hours following the session. Therefore we encourage you to keep this mind when chatting.

We hope that you enjoy and make use of this service. Please do not abuse the privilege or stay logged on for hours without chatting since this service requires a lot of bandwidth and can become costly.
